Cooking classes are meant to be fun and entertaining, but we also stress the importance of learning. Taking home more than a memory or a content belly, our hope is that you will take away some lasting techniques, tips and knowledge to help equip you for battle in the home kitchen.
The teaching style at our cooking classes helps you learn a new way of thinking… not just how to technically assemble a recipe, but to think on your feet, be able to easily make substitutions, be flexible!
Our current schedule of classes offers a mix of demo and hands on style classes. Over time we plan to include different class series, a culinary boot camp, and kids cooking classes.
Classes are usually three hours in length. We currently offer two types of learning: Demo and Hands On
Demo Classes
Demo classes are less intensive (read: cleaner hands), and more suitable for a fun date night, bachelorette party, or any event that leans social. During a typical demo class, we’ll prepare an appetizer, entree and dessert for you. During the preparation we’ll talk about the different techniques used, tips, tricks, information about sourcing the ingredients, substitution suggestions, and so on. We welcome a highly interactive class, so please ask questions! It’s the perfect situation – you get to watch the prep but you don’t have to do it; you get to eat the delicious meal but you don’t have to clean up afterward!
Hands On Classes
Hands On classes involve the actual food preparation including cutting, chopping, fabrication, sauteing, roasting, etc.
Getting your hands dirty in the class kitchen can be a more rewarding experience knowing that you’ve created what you are eating. While there will be many similarities to Demo classes, Hands On classes will help you learn more about the cooking process and get comfortable with the tools and skills that will help you be successful at home in the kitchen.
Never fear, our instructors will teach and guide you at each step while you put together the recipes. Our goal is that you take away some very practical knowledge, a fun experience, and a desire to cook from scratch in your own kitchen. The best part is you get to enjoy the tasty and sumptuous reward for all your hard work!
